The Other Foundation is a collective of individuals who each contribute $100 per month to support community-led initiatives in Birmingham.

Our goal is to make philanthropy more accessible, transparent, and community-driven.

How it Works

Structure

We support and implement community project ideas, submitted by individuals, informal groups, and nonprofits alike, through direct funding, in-house project management, and volunteer coordination.

Awards

Members vote monthly to determine which applicants receive funding. Several $1,000+ grants are awarded each month.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants include both registered nonprofit organizations and individuals with community-focused project ideas. All projects must serve the greater good of Birmingham, Alabama.

The inspiration for our logo is the iconic "Storyteller" fountain in Birmingham's historic 5 Points South Neighborhood. Used with permission by the estate of its famed sculptor, Frank Fleming, the image is emblematic of the city's unique cultural and artistic legacy.
